What do you think of TaylorMade golf balls particularly the 2017 TP5 and TP5x? Which brand of balls do you use? Tell us in the comments below.

GolfMagic headed to The Shire London to conduct its ‘Evolution of the TaylorMade Golf Ball Test’.

GM Editor Andy Roberts pitted seven iconic TaylorMade golf balls up against each other, dating back from 1999 with the Inergel Pro all the way through to 2017 with the TP5 and TP5x, as played by a number of the world’s best including Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy and Sergio Garcia.

Each TaylorMade ball was hit three times with a wedge, three times with a 7-iron and three times with the driver.

I remember the TP Red fondly, particularly when I found them in the rough 🙂
Penta TP was certainly a revelation when I started playing them, but yes the TP5 is stunning. I have played both TP5 and TP5x, on the course, against one another for comparison, and the only negative for the TP5x is the slightly harsher feel off my Spider Tour putter, so it's the TP5 for me …. which reminds me I need to pick another pack for the next few comps 😂🏌
